God’s love surpasses knowledge

This morning I woke up and just sat quietly with one verse. It washed over me like water on the soul.


“And to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” — Ephesians 3:19


Think about that phrase for a moment: a love that surpasses knowledge.


Paul is saying there is something about God’s love that goes beyond what the human mind can fully grasp. We spend our lives trying to understand things—science, philosophy, politics, history. Knowledge matters. But here Paul says the greatest reality in existence cannot be contained by intellect alone.


God’s love surpasses knowledge.


It’s deeper than analysis.

It’s wider than explanation.

It’s stronger than our doubts.


You can study it your whole life and still never reach the bottom of it.


And then Paul says something even more staggering: “that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”


Not a portion.

Not a small sample.


All the fullness of God.


Of course, the infinite God cannot be measured or contained by us—but Paul is saying the very life, love, and presence of God is meant to flood the human soul. The Creator of galaxies chooses to pour His love into ordinary people.


Just pause and think about that.


The One who spoke the universe into existence…

The One who set the stars in motion…

The One who holds every atom together…


loves you.


Not with a distant, abstract love—but with a love so vast that Scripture says it surpasses knowledge.


That realization can make you stop.

Breathe.

Maybe even shed a quiet tear of joy.


Because if God loves you like that, then you are not forgotten.

You are not an accident.

You are not alone.


And for those seeking God this morning, this is the heart of the gospel: God’s love is not something you earn—it’s something you receive.


Paul prays just a few verses earlier:


“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” — Ephesians 3:17


Faith opens the door.

And when Christ enters, His love fills the house of the soul.


So this morning, before the news, the noise, the arguments, and the chaos of the day…


Just sit for a moment and let this truth sink in:


You are loved by a love that surpasses knowledge.


And that love has the power to fill your life with the very fullness of God.
