SIR ROGER PENROSE reads science fiction novels for entertainment. After listening to an "Unbelievable?" podcast with Sir Roger Penrose, the mathematical physicist and Nobel Laureate in Physics, I suppose I found my own science fiction writing a bit more valueable and impactful. It seems that Shelly was right and the poets are the unacknowledge legistlators of our time. I was overjoyed when I learned that Sir Roger is keen on science fiction stories. He greatly enjoys the work of Fred Hoyle's "Black Cloud" and others where there is a completely different way of imagining a conscious being.
There is one work of fiction that he likes by Robert Forward called Dragon's Egg, where a neutron star came close to the son and another type of living beings was discovered that lived by nuclear processes and evolved millions of times faster than humans. They even had a complete religion that was built upon a star they had seen.
He seemed to delight in creative imagination, but was at a loss or agnostic about where it comes from in a world of material, mind, and abstract ideas. In the podcast he has a fascinating discussion with William Lane Craig who discusses some unifying principles, the universe, and how we got here.
I would like to send him a copy of my novel on the emergence of consciousness called PSYCHONIX: Mind Over Matter. Does anyone know him?
