Peace In The Middle-East

Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PLO) have been negotiating peace since 1993, but reports are not optimistic. To build genuine peace, it is essential to have trust, good will and mutual security. The Palestinian people may want peace, but the terrorist proxies of Iran are consistently attacking, shelling Israel, and blocking the way. Until the radical elements are removed there will never be peace.

The Palestinians aspire to have an independent state in the 1967 borders, with Arab Jerusalem as its capital and a substantial return of refugees to Israel. The Israelis wish to retain the Jewish character of Israel, being the only Jewish state in the world. Both sides wish to enjoy life of tranquility and in security, free of violence and terror from Hamas and Hezbollah.

Israel is a "disgraceful blot that should be "wiped off the face of the earth," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He told this to students in Tehran.

He also said that a new wave of Palestinian attacks would be enough to finish off Israel. He also said: "Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury, [while] any [Islamic leader] who recognizes the Zionist regime means he is acknowledging the surrender and defeat of the Islamic world." He was addressing a conference titled The World Without Zionism.

Brigadier-General Hossein Salami,

“I tell the prime minister of the Zionist regime to practice swimming in the Mediterranean because soon you will have no choice, but flee into the sea,” according to the ultraconservative news website Fars news.

Khaled Mashaal, Hamas leader, February 3, 2006, Al-Hayyat al-Jedida, "[Hamas will] never recognize the legitimacy of the Zionist state that was founded on our land."

Hamas leader-in-exile Khaled Mashaal, Damascus, Syria, December 27, 2008, "This is the time for the third uprising... Resistance will continue through suicide missions."

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum, calling for a resumption of suicide attacks on Gaza radio, December 27, 2008, "Hamas will continue the resistance until the last drop of blood."

Hamas leader Mahmoud a-Zahar, Al-Aqsa TV, January 4, 2009 Hamas "must lay the foundation for a tomorrow without Zionists."

Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, Future News TV, June 15, 2010, Source: MEMRI.org, "We have liberated Gaza, but have we recognized Israel? Have we given up our lands occupied in 1948? We demand the liberation of the West Bank, and the establishment of a state in the West Bank and Gaza, with Jerusalem as its capital – but without recognizing [Israel]. This is the key – without recognizing the Israeli enemy on a single inch of land... "Our plan for this stage is to liberate any inch of Palestinian land, and to establish a state on it. Our ultimate plan is [to have] Palestine in its entirety. I say this loud and clear so that nobody will accuse me of employing political tactics. We will not recognize the Israeli enemy."

Many say, “where there is a will, there is a way.” Their problem is that there is no will for it in the radically controlled regions ;and the way cannot be one-sided, enforced or coerced. Of all the possible solutions presently on the table, a two-state solution is the most viable. Some believe that good starting points for laying the foundations, for resolving all contentious issues, are the Clinton Parameters (2000) and the Geneva Accord (2003).
