Freedom of Conscience

Together we can make the government less necessary. If you continue to drift and don't get involved, then the government has to step into the vacuum and do more and more and more. "Freedom of Conscience" is the Key to Civil society. Societies are only free, open, and healthy if in between the ordinary citizen and the government there’s a thick layering of voluntary organizations in which people can volunteer, give money, and time and pursue their visions. Out of this comes an explosion of charity, giving, and caring. Educational reforms. Movements to reform for justice and so on. People convinced of those truths and rights important to them can be involve in all sorts of things that matter supremely them. The Catholic Church has done more for hospitals in human history than any other organization ever, so to restrict their rights on a matter of conscience is literally constricting the goose who laid the golden egg. ~ Oz Guinness paraphrase. It is not in society’s best interest…and it is not in your best interest to bring lawsuits against nuns and for nuns to countersue. Both secular and sacred groups are growing have plenty of money to make all the lawyers rich. I for one do not want to fall prey to Nietzsche’s "Will To Power," but instead I would like to live faithfully before my God and civilly among my fellow man.
